not recorded. The marriage of Elizabeth's parents had caused a scandal at court. Elizabeth's mother

was Jocchetta of Luxembourg, a noble European woman who had been

married to the Duke of Bedford and heir to the English throne. If fate had taken a different

course and young King Henry VI had died as a teenager, then Jeketa would have become queen. Instead,

Bedford died after two years of marriage, leaving

Jaketta a desirable widow. She was taken under the care of the English crown, and much
