He's a renowned physician and research scientist in his second tenure as U.S. Surgeon General. And for years, he's been naming and investigating loneliness as a public health matter, including his own experience of that very human condition. It is beyond rare to be in the presence of a person holding high governmental office who speaks about love with ease and dignity — and about the agency to be healers that is available to us all. 0:30.3	Hi everyone. Okay, I'm going to shift the tone here a little bit because
0:43.3	oh it's so good to be in this room again. And I mean how many, well I can't see the light is
0:51.6	bright, but how many people are here for our live taping in 2020 on AirFest?
0:58.4	It was the last day of the on-air fest. And I, a state of emergency was declared that day
1:10.8	in New York. As we sat here, this close, and Ocean Vong is who I interviewed. And backstage where we
1:18.8	just were, I remember that we were kind of like we'd kind of gotten the news that we needed to be
1:24.4	careful. So when we met, we bumped elbows. But when we finished our conversation up here,
1:31.4	we had a big bear hug because surely things weren't changing that much. And we all left this room
1:40.6	and went back to a changed world. And by that Wednesday, three days later, I was sitting in the
1:47.4	on-beings studios sending everyone home from work, thinking we'd all be back in a month.
1:54.8	And nothing there would have been the same again. So I, you know, I want to invoke this memory,
2:03.2	not just to honor the gravity of what happened and really what we're all still caring,
2:08.7	which I hope this can be this hour together can be a way to process that a little bit and hold that
2:15.8	and honor it. But also to invoke a question that I want to ground this conversation, which is,
2:22.4	what have we been given to learn? Who are we now and who are we called to be? Which are questions
2:28.1	very much that you're working without in the world. I also feel like it's really important to name,
