I'm Tranquilis, online editor of the program.

For the show Days of A, Christa interviewed Sharon Browse, a conservative rabbi in L.A.

who was part of a Jewish spiritual renaissance.

Listening to the raw interview, we were captivated by her energy.

She speaks fast, though, and we wanted to keep that sense of spontaneity while allowing

the listener to ponder some of her more profound thoughts about the high holidays.

We'd like you to have that same access and hear what we did in the studio.

This conversation took place on August 14, 2007 via an ISDN line, with Christa and Studio

at Minnesota Public Radio and Sharon Browse at NPR West in L.A.

We do get to have a real conversation, because it's not live, and we get to edit it later.

And so it doesn't have to be linear.

We'll just see where it goes, and I hope we'll be surprised.

My thought is, you have to imagine, you know, our listeners, there will be devout Jewish

listeners out there, but there'll also be plenty of people who come from many other traditions

or, you know, our Jewish, but not practicing.

And I think what I'd like to do is just start by really having you kind of talk me through

and walk me through the days of our rituals and some of the ideas and the readings, you

know, not obviously the whole thing, but just high points and what's important to you.

And I mean, I have some specific questions and some ideas about where we want to start

and where we want to go.
