Hello listeners, welcome back to Underwood and Flinch and the continuing story within the story of Underwood's origins.

Last time we heard how Underwood, formerly known as John William Brooks, left England for Virginia in 1718 on a ship

called the Susanna. After a terrible storm, the Susanna was left limping towards the West Indies,

where she ran into a pirate ship under the command of Henry Voulaine.

In addition to plundering the Susanna and robbing her passengers, the lane stole the ship's acting carpenter, the aforementioned John William Brooks.

We joined this week's episode where we left off last time with Underwood puffing

on his cigar and telling David of how when he woke up in the hold of the pirate ship he received a visit

received a visitor.

My jailer, I suppose you'd call him.

I can see him now as then as he approached through the gloom his blonde hair

cashing the thin shafts of sunlight that filtered through the deck. Underwood's eyes narrowed on David as if he

were trying to make him out at a distance.

Yes, it's uncanny, you know, but I can see it clearly now. It grew to look just like you. The

resemblance is far greater than in any of your kin for generations.

David sat forward.

What?

Was he?

Yes, said Underwood with a smile.
