Today we are talking about lying.

It's a tough one because over the last 23 years, I have heard from parents, teachers, and other

therapists about how lying is one of the most difficult, one of the most challenging behaviors to address.

Now, not all differently wired children lie. In fact,

many don't lie and often tell on themselves, but we're actually today talking about the other

differently wired children who really struggle with lying and, you know, sometimes they're not

even so great at it. In other words, I mean, when they're lying, it's obvious. But what can be

confusing to us is why they continue to lie despite getting in trouble for it. So it's important for us to address lying effectively

because when a child lies, it really puts them in a tough position. It can damage relationships

with family, with friends, with teachers, with their supports, with their other caregivers,

frequent lying can really create problems. And sometimes we find that we don't believe that

child when they tell us the truth. We assume that they're lying. And that definitely can

create problems. So there are a few reasons why

differently why our children lie, but we are going to focus on two main reasons. In this episode,

We're going to focus on what we're going to call the impulsive.

You find yourself and your child together and they do something right in front of you that they're not supposed to do.
