Give an old town has existed for so, so, so very long.

It's surely undergone a vast number of unaccounted for changes, swings, and turns of fortune.

But I find it hard to believe that this era doesn't stand out in terms of overall interest.

The early phase of today's episode covers Megor, before doing a complete reverse into

the reign of Jeharris, both far longer and far more prosperous.

It's said that while Aegon conquered the Seven Kingdoms, it was Jeharris who truly

brought them together.

And I mostly agree with that.

Dorne is still an exception at this point in history.

But to Jeharris' credit, he was one of the few Targaryen kings to not attack or even

plan to attack Dorne.

This meant substantial changes for a lot of the realm, adopting similar laws and custom,

lots more standardizing of things like coins and taxes and other things.

But that took time, of course.

Jeharris' reign was, by far, the longest, 55 years.

And there are a lot of moving parts to consider, but I strongly suspect that this was very good

for old town and the high towers, hard to imagine that it wasn't.

It's possible they had vessel dispensations, special favors, tax breaks, whatever, you

know, stuff that happens behind closed doors, handshake deals.

But for the most part, it's straight forward, right?

Peace brings prosperity, especially if you're already prosperous, i.e. when you have a gigantic

financial head start, massive income, etc., Jeharris famously built roads, which clearly
