Welcome back to another edition of Buck guy retocables, Doug Lamarice, Stephen

Means, Nathan Baird. This is an interesting one, a little bit off the radar, yet in a

lot of ways, it should be right on the radar. We are doing the 1979 Ohio State

Michigan game. This is Earl Bruce's first season. This is the first year post the

10 year war between Bo and Woody. This is, this is like peak or all Bruce in a lot of

ways. And it is a really interesting game to watch. This to me as someone of my age who

like didn't grow up in Ohio State fan. I mean, it's just long. It's like whatever it is 40

plus years ago. It's just long enough ago. It feels like it is in a, I don't want to say

lost era of Ohio State football. But I've been thinking I was thinking about this this

week, the Woody era. And then what you certainly would recall the revival of Ohio State football

under Jim Tressel that was then built upon by Urban Meyer and Ryan Day, they win their first

national championship in more than 30 years. And this Earl Bruce John Cooper era, which everybody

knows about we talk about all the time. But it really is an odd little in between era in Ohio

State football, where it is defined by kind of what they weren't more than what they were, right?

I mean, you fall into this nine and three Earl period, then you fall into this era, era,

era of great talent under John Cooper, but they can't beat Michigan. And it's, you know,

it's bookended by Woody at the in front of it and then Tressel Urban Day behind it. And Nathan,

like this game in 1979. In some ways is almost like the end of the Woody era that it is still,

it's a really weird time. It's a really young team, which we'll get into for Ohio State.

There's a lot of hope to come that is never fulfilled. When I watch this game, they feel like

they're lacking sort of an explosive talent in a lot of ways, especially compared to one Michigan
