0:10.7	I'm Keith Simon. Okay, today we're in Revelation 16, and the first verse tells you what this whole chapter
0:18.2	is about, so let's dive in. Revelation 16, verse 1. Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels,
0:26.0	Go pour out the seven bulls of God's wrath on the earth.
0:30.0	The rest of this chapter uses allusions to the Old Testament and lots of vivid imagery to describe what happens when God's wrath is poured out on Earth.
0:39.0	I think it's safe to say that a lot of us are uncomfortable talking about God's wrath?
0:44.2	We'd rather focus on God's love or God's forgiveness or God's mercy, but not so much as
0:49.2	wrath.
0:50.2	When is the last time you heard a sermon on God's wrath or read a book on that subject,
0:54.7	do you ever praise God for his anger and judgment against sin?
0:58.6	When God's wrath comes up in a conversation, especially with someone who doesn't follow Jesus.
1:03.7	We are often embarrassed or feel like we have to apologize for God.
1:07.4	But here's what the Prophet Nahim said.
1:09.7	The Lord is a jealous and avengeing God.
1:12.3	The Lord takes vengeance and his foes and he vents his
1:14.4	wrath. The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and he vents his wrath against his
1:19.0	enemies.
1:20.0	J. I. Packer wrote a book that's considered a classic. It's called Knowing God.
1:24.7	Now, the book is a little dense, but it is very good if you have the patience to work through it.
1:30.3	He devoted a whole chapter in that book on The Wrath of God, and in that chapter he writes this.
1:36.0	Clearly the theme of God's Wrath is one about which the biblical writers feel no inhibitions whatsoever.
