And we were going to get into the UNC coaching search as to like where things stand right now.

And in the last 10 minutes, I get the news through my ESPN app on my phone giving me the alert.

I knew the minute I hit save and I saw my phone light up and it said, Pete Thamla, I said, oh, don't you dare.

Don't you dare.

Oh, he dared.

Pete Thamble with the breaking news that Mike Malone is going to be the next coach at North Carolina. This tweet, and he's the only one to have it. So it looks like Thammel broke this thing. Props to him. I've been over at Tar Hill 24-7, nothing updated. Inside Carolina, haven't seen anything updated.

Matt Norlander and other insiders, I've looked at their timeline, haven't seen anything updated.

Thammel says sources, North Carolina intends to hire longtime NBA coach Mike Malone as the school's next basketball coach.

Won that championship with Denver has won 510 games as an NBA head coach.

These are topics that we do get into on today's podcast in relation to where North Carolina is in this coaching search.

A humbling experience, I would say.

I think that still stands where you had your sights set on some name college coaches and you end up with a wild card.

This wild card popped up yesterday, thanks to our friend Brendan Marks at the Athletic.

Marks, at the end of his update to the Carolina coaching search, had put in a blurb that Mike Malone was somebody who had picked up Steam as a potential candidate for the job.

It's the first time we had seen Mike Malone enter this conversation.

And I about spit out my deviled egg while enjoying my Easter dinner when I saw that blurb.

And it turns out we're here.
