Mercy Ships brings you Howard's story.

As a child, Hawar had a facial tumor.

She struggled to eat and breathe.

Local surgeons could not perform the necessary surgery.

Thankfully, Mercy Ships docked in Sierra Leone.

Volunteer doctors knew that Hauer needed surgery right away.

We will get to the mercy ship and selfie.

Howard's volunteer surgeon said that if her tumor would have been left untreated,

it could push her tongue back into a throat and choke her,

the most terrifying way to die.

Thankfully, Hauer's surgery was a success. My mom was so happy. How good thank you.

Hauer is now 23 and studying to become a nurse to serve on mercy ships.

One day work at a ship, that's my dream.
