Mercy Ships brings you Kumba's story.

After decades of living with devastating burns,

Kumba received surgery from Mercy Ships.

For two months, she was away from home

and her little girl was a two. Rehabilitation takes time. she was the

A visit from her daughter was the morale boost Kumba needed.

As she gave her a cuddle, she cried tears of joy.

Kumba grew stronger, until she was eventually ready to leave the floating hospital and return home,

she said.

I always wanted to do the laundry and now I can.

I am able to fetch firewood.

I can draw water from wells.

I am happy and I thank God. Surgery reaches beyond patients, even whole communities. It can
