We need a military strategy for Ukraine to gain a decisive advantage on the battlefield

to win the war. Nobody is going to break us. We're strong. We're Ukrainians.

Every weekday afternoon, we sit down with leading journalists from the Telegraphs London

Newsroom and our teams reporting on the ground to bring you the latest news and analysis

on the war in Ukraine. It's Monday, the 13th of March, one year and seventeen days since

the full-scale invasion began. And today, I'm joined by our associate editor Dominic

Nichols, our assistant comment editor francisternly, and the Estonian ambassador to the UK,

Viliar Luby. Before we talked about the news from Ukraine, I asked francisternly for the

latest from the diplomatic space.

Thanks David, it's good to be back. Amongst other things I was doing quite a lot of historical

reading while Star was away, particularly about the Crimean War of 1853-56, which is of course

a subject that's hugely relevant to all of this, and isn't really one we've managed to talk about

in-depth yet, and so hopefully there will be an opportunity to do so in the coming weeks.

But turning to the present, presentry of China is planning to travel to Russia to meet

Putin as early as next week. People who are familiar with the matter have told us.

It comes off the back, of course, of Putin hosting China's top diplomat in Moscow last month,

and then they signaled that she would travel to Russia, but I think the timing of this is perhaps

much earlier than people anticipated, and no doubt will cause concern amongst Western diplomats.
