Today is 1,184 days since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In recent weeks,

hopes of ending the war have been on a bit of a roller coaster. Today's been no exception.

One minute, reports of a big prisoner exchange, the next comments from the Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov,

pouring cold water on suggestions that the Vatican could play a role in bringing the two sides together.

Now, let's just imagine the Vatican as a venue for negotiations.

It would be a bit inelegant for Orthodox countries to use a Catholic platform to discuss

issues on how to remove the root causes of the conflict.

One of the root causes is the course to destroy the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
