counteroffensive. The Ukrainians will step up their attacks, they'll want the Russians

to feel pain inside Russia all over. This week saw heightened tensions in the ongoing

conflict in Ukraine on Tuesday morning. A wave of drone strikes hit the Russian capital,

bringing the war to Moscow for the first time. This has Russian bombs continued to fall

on Kiev and a month that has seen relentless shell-knit visit. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian

military preps for a promised counter-attensive as if news is put for NATO membership. David

Ignatius is foreign affairs columnist at the Washington Post. He lays out the state of

play and whether this could be a turning point in the war.

David Moscow launched air strikes on Kiev this week and continues to blame Ukraine for

a drone attack on Tuesday that damaged residential buildings in Moscow. Tell me what the

latest is. The latest is really Ukraine's ability to strike into the very heart of Russia,

residential districts in Moscow. The Russians said that eight drones were shot down. We know

that two buildings were damaged, two people were injured. Putin himself said that this was an

attempt by Ukraine to try to intimidate Russia and its citizens. So this was a week when the war

came home in a new way for Russians. We need to remember that Putin keeps telling the Russian

people this isn't a war. This is a special military operation. With the implication, you won't

be touched by it directly. This is a week when Russians were touched. They were frightened. The

fear that Ukrainians have felt since February 24 when this war began, that you see and hear in

the streets when you visit Kiev, some of that finally came home to Russia. Could that mean a reaction

from a Russian people like Laysing? This is hitting us. We don't like this.

So the reaction could come in two different directions. Russians could say, we're now targets.
