between people whose circular firing squad has been inevitable now for four years.

At least if you listen to this program, you'll be unsurprised to see them fighting like cats in a sack

because, of course, back in 2016, we saw significant swathes of the country unhitched from accountability,

scrutiny and basic honesty and the inevitable collapse of whatever is built upon such flimsy

foundations has been explained to you by me on countless occasions, even I'm bored of the analysis now.

What happens next? I do not know, but if you are interested in understanding events,

Cameron around, all of these ludicrous battles. I almost wish they were an attempt at a deliberate

distraction from the death toll. I really do, because at least then you'd think that, you know,

appalling and diabolical, though it may be, at least there is some sort of plan.

We'd look at the ebb and flow of enthusiasm for whatever deal Theresa May was trying to get through Parliament.

And we'd think, this is just such an obvious dog's dinner. I mean,

she can't tell the truth about this being an exercise in damage limitation because she leads

a party still dedicated to pretending that it's all going to be a good idea. But people didn't

find her attempts to pretend that it was going to be a good idea convincing. So they

got rid of her and replaced her with somebody who's much, much better at lying. I say what you like
