This is the useless information podcast. I am Steve Silverman. Today I present you with a second

For most people the Great Depression begins with the stock market crash on October 24th of

1929.

Yet for the rural farmers of the Midwest United States, their depression began shortly after the end of World War I.

Up until this point, farmers were enjoying ever-growing production and profits and of course

greater profits allowed them to purchase more acreage and to purchase more equipment

but that also meant taking on more debt And as with most financial bubbles, the farmers were headed for a big

crash. They were suddenly hit with a triple whammy. That's because to run efficient farms they needed expensive
