Summary

Auburn Tigers shift recruiting strategy as in-state prospects exit, hinting at a new era under Alex Golesh. Can Auburn outmaneuver SEC rivals like Alabama and Georgia by prioritizing value over splashy NIL deals? Zac Blackerby and Brian Smith spotlight how NIL money and locker room culture are reshaping Auburn’s approach, especially at premium positions like quarterback, edge, and offensive tackle. The episode spotlights emerging talent—tight end George Lamons Jr.’s athletic upside and redshirt freshman quarterback Tristan Ti'a’s impressive A-Day performance. Will Ti'a’s development change Auburn’s future portal plans? Key discussion points also include the importance of recruiting offensive linemen, handling NIL challenges, and what Auburn needs to keep up with top-spending programs like Miami, Texas A&M, and Oregon. Is a balanced, culture-driven roster Auburn's best bet to compete in a turbulent college football landscape?

But we'll go take another kid that will develop and we'll just do that over and over again. We'll spend a handful of kids so we don't break the bank and look stupid here. And that's, Georgia's been doing that for quite a while. So this is not a new model. I think more people are just looking at what Kirby does. It's easier to recruit to Georgia than most schools.
