0:06.4	If you've even remotely been paying attention to the news recently, you've probably heard
0:10.7	something about Congress doing an official hearing on UFOs or UAPs as they're now called.
0:17.6	We've been mesmerized by the idea of unknown visitors coming down from the sky since
0:22.4	before recorded history.
0:24.4	In the 20th century, the modern concept of the UFO took form and had waves of popularity
0:29.7	in belief, but it was always considered very fringe, if not completely taboo, to openly
0:36.7	believe in this stuff and take it seriously.
0:39.9	That has changed quite recently.
0:43.7	In 2017, the New York Times published an amazing piece by Helene Cooper, Ralph Blumenthal,
0:49.6	and Leslie Keane.
0:50.9	They've revealed multiple recorded encounters between the US Navy, specifically F-18,
0:57.6	over Hornet pilots, and unknown objects that moved in ways that seemed to defy physics.
1:03.8	It also revealed that the Pentagon has known about this for a long time and has investigated
1:08.2	them secretly.
1:09.8	Suddenly, UFOs or UAPs were confirmed as a real issue in the mainstream.
1:16.6	Something was up in the sky that we did not understand, whether or not these things
1:21.4	are alien life forms is up for debate, but the phenomenon itself is no longer up for
1:27.0	debate, and suddenly everybody's talking about it.
1:30.2	Now, most recently, a guy named David Grush, a high-ranking military official, came forward
1:36.7	to blow the whistle on an alleged top secret military program of obtaining and reverse engineering
1:42.7	crashed crafts.
