This is our passion. That's the spirit we bring to this show. I'm Luke Thomas. I'm Brian Campbell. This is morning combat.

0:18.0

Oh, yeah, one day after a historic day of reckoning and sports broadcasting history, Mk still stand in back in your face hole, Brian Campbell, Luke Thomas, and the award-winning Best Day on Combat Sports Show.

0:36.0

Maybe in the history of the organized free world. We're back at it Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Obviously, we've got some big headlines to address.

0:46.0

We are also going to set the stage for all things you have seen 294 this Saturday and read your fans of missions, but Luke Thomas right off the top.

0:57.0

Tough day yesterday for so many that we love so many that we've been on the front lines with so many over an incredible 37 year history of showtime sports.

1:11.0

Obviously, we feel that nothing but great letters of encouragement from our fans and a lot of questions about Mk's future. How are you doing here? One day after a day, we've been waiting for in terms of a resolution. Now we have it.

1:27.0

Yeah, well, first when you said it was the dark day, I thought it was because you were referring to your gonorrhea diagnosis from your doctor, but you're right. The bigger we call, we refer to that as my black liver on the show.

1:39.0

Okay, look just for yeah, for punctual reasons. Yeah, I mean, you know, listen, I don't even know exactly what to say. We, we, you know, we had some idea that a day like this could be on the horizon.

1:53.0

So when it was official, we, you know, people like, how long did you guys know we found out like you guys did yesterday, you know, basically in terms of making it official.

2:03.0

But I'll just say this, you know, I want folks to know that working for showtime has probably been the best job I've ever had.

2:14.0

You know, that includes Mk and then some non Mk stuff. You see, I know you would agree because we did stuff outside of the Mk bubble, so to speak with showtime.

2:23.0

But dude, showtime treats you like family showtime makes you feel like you're a contributor. Everything is white glove treatment. Everybody is part of a bigger family.

2:33.0

They make you feel like you're the king of the world every time you show up. I loved the work. I loved everything about it. Mk wouldn't exist but for showtime.

2:43.0

So obviously, like everybody else, this is not a great, you know, this is not great news in terms of losing an iconic brand like this in the way that they did.

2:53.0

I know there's more to the story, but I just want everybody to know I love and I still do today every second of working with showtime and could not be more grateful for the opportunity.

3:05.0

Thanks to Brian daily and a lot of other folks to be in this position. What a treat the last four years have been, you know, well said, I echo that completely.

3:14.0

And obviously, if you've been living under a rock yesterday, Paramount Global, the parent company to both CBS sports and showtime, the labels that pay us have decided to sunset showtime sports after 37 years.

3:26.0

So that'll mean no more MMA, no more boxing. Obviously, you've got a lot of questions regarding Mk and just a reminder that look, this was always from the from, you know, a show that launched on showtime but quickly became a joint effort from CBS sports and showtime.

3:42.0

And we are still with CBS sports and very happy and the lights will still turn on the heat is getting paid. The show will move forward, but to all my incredible friends, colleagues, I don't think I don't think you can stop at friends and colleagues look because I've worked at many different places and obviously we've greatly enjoyed and still greatly enjoy working at CBS sports, but the family atmosphere that we felt at showtime.

4:05.0

You can't help but feel for everybody who got the really tough news. And I think when you look back at the history in particular of showtime championship boxing, it's not only been a decorated almost historic one.

4:18.0

And I say historic from the standpoint of what are the five biggest paper views and boxing history in terms of overall buys. Well, four of them have been on showtime starting in 1986.

4:30.0
