Good morning. Welcome to Axios today. It's Monday, April 3rd. I'm Nailibutu. Today, the latest

0:09.6

on former President Trump's indictment, and the debate over crime in the nation's capital.

0:14.9

Plus, a change to preventive services under the ACA. But first, the US tornado death toll keeps rising.

0:22.8

That's our one big thing.

At least 32 people have died after severe storms hit the south, Midwest, and mid-Atlantic

over the weekend. That brought the American death toll from tornadoes over just the past two

0:40.0

weeks to more than 50. Since the start of this year, the National Weather Service preliminary

data shows there have been at least 385 tornadoes across the country. Axios' Andrew Friedman

or widespread tornadoes have been so far this year? Scientists are hard at work trying to decipher

1:30.0

what role climate change has played in this year's tornado so far. But more importantly,

1:36.5

which direction things are going? It is virtually impossible that climate change isn't affecting

1:43.2

these weather systems. We're getting more water vapor in the air, that means there's more

1:48.3

instability for severe thunderstorms. There's just intricacies that computer models have a

1:54.3

trouble resolving. Andrew, is there more of a severe weather coming tomorrow? Where do people

1:59.7

need to be on guard? Yeah, so right now it really looks like another outbreak is possible

2:06.9

going from Chicago southward to the Mississippi River Valley. So pretty much the same regions that

were hit Friday into Saturday. What we're talking about right now in terms of storm preparations that
