Here's your closing bell brief for Friday, September 26th. I'm Catherine Sullivan for the

Wall Street Journal. U.S. stocks rallied today breaking a three-day losing streak as investors

shrugged off the announcement of new tariffs.

The Dow was up 0.7%, the S&P 500, 0.6%, and the NASDAQ, 0.4%.

President Trump's fresh levies on pharmaceuticals, heavy trucks, and furniture are set to take

effect next week. Shares of furniture retailer, RH, dropped 4%, and shares of truck builder Packar climbed 5%

since it's seen as a likely beneficiary of new tariffs on its overseas rivals. Meanwhile,

the Wall Street Journal is exclusively reporting that video game maker Electronic Arts is nearing a deal

to go private. The deal involving private equity firm Silver Lake,

Saudi Arabia's public investment fund, and Jared Kushner's investment firm Affinity Partners,

could be the largest leverage buyout of all time. Shares in Electronic Arts closed up 15%.

Intel stock gained over 4% after we reported the administration is considering a plan to boost domestic chip manufacturing.

And Costco stock fell almost 3% after the warehouse retailers' same store sales growth missed Wall Street estimates.
