The Beijing Winter Olympics are in full swing, and the storylines are beginning to take shape.

Here with an Olympics update is Daily Wire Sports reporter Joe Morgan. Joe, what do you have for us?

Well, John has been a difficult start to the Olympics for the Americans, as we've won just five total medals with zero gold.

In fact, even when an American has won a gold medal, it's gone to another country. Allow me to explain.

The spotlight has been firmly on freestyle skiing sensation, Eileen Gou in Beijing.

But it hasn't been because of her men's talent. It's because of what Gou represents.

So she is an American, born and raised in San Francisco, California. But she's not skiing under the American flag in Beijing.

Gou is representing the country of China in the 2022 games. In 2019, Gou made the announcement to ski for her mother's home country of China.

And as you can imagine, her decision has created quite a few critics.
