0:13.8	President Biden's nominee for Attorney General denied such a hearing when President Obama
0:18.2	nominated him for the Supreme Court is currently testifying in the first of two days of confirmation
0:24.0	hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
0:26.5	Garland today has assured senators that he will lead an independent Justice Department
0:30.9	as the people's lawyer, not the presidents.
0:34.3	Garland also asserted his first priority is to prosecute those involved in the January
0:39.3	6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
0:42.4	So far the nominee is getting praised from both Democrats and Republican CNN's.
