First, though, new American airstrikes on Iran.

The scene just moments ago in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, Iranian state media says

the port city of Surik and Kershima Island were also hit.

The ceasefire clearly on hold.

A U.S. official telling CNN the strikes, quote, won't be over for a little bit, adding

this is punishment.

Punishment, that official says, for recent attacks on commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.

The administration today also reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil sales.

All of this happening with Iran holding funeral observances for the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei,

who was killed at the start of the war in NATO allies meeting in Turkey.
