0:05.0	Welcome to the lead. I'm Jake Tapper and we begin this week with the coronavirus death toll in the U.S.
0:11.0	standing at a staggering 40,000. To be precise, it's 40,931. This same time,
0:18.0	last week, the death toll was roughly 23,000, so that's roughly a doubling of the number of lives lost, a huge
0:26.2	and horrific jump.
0:28.2	There's a person behind every one of those numbers.
0:30.6	A stark example of the tragedy, Sunday's edition of the Boston Globe printed 16 pages of death
0:36.2	notices. Boston is among the cities being closely watched right now by the White House
