The leaders of the U.S. and China put aside their differences this week and together promised to do

more to reign in climate change. This is a big deal since the U.S. and China are the world's top

emitters of greenhouse gases, and it was a bit of a surprise, too. U.S. climate envoy John Kerry

and his Chinese counterpart issued an unusual joint statement promising to work together to

lower emissions and meet the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement. This means both countries will be

sharing technology that could help limit global warming. China also agreed for the first time to

crack down on methane leaks, something the U.S. also promised last week, and China said it would

cut down on coal. But some experts say these announcements don't go nearly far enough,

while others say it's a step in the right direction. Some analysts also say this is a good step

toward healing the tensions between the U.S. and China. Remember, the nations have clashed recently

on things like cybersecurity, human rights, trade, and more. But on climate change, they seem to

have found common ground at COP26. The Climate Conference continues for just two more days.
