Hello and welcome to another Slate Spoiler Special podcast. I'm Dana Stevens, Slate's movie critic, and today I am joined

by Slate Writer, longtime Slate Spoiler Special guest, Dan Cois. Hello, Dan. Hey, Dana. Glad to be back.

And the movie we're spoiling today, which really has needed spoiling so badly and just needed

a lot of post-movie discussion since I saw it back in September is Tar starring Kate Blanchett. Blanchett plays

a world-class orchestra conductor named Lydia Tar. But before we start breaking down, Tar, I need to just

ask you first of all, Dan, I always like to go around at the beginning of a spoiler and just ask,

yes or no, is this a great movie? Is it an okay movie? Is it going to be one of your favorite

movies of 2022, as is the case for me?

I really like Tar a lot. I found it very compelling, very enjoyable, and somewhat bewildering when I

watched it. And I found it extremely fun to argue about.

Yeah, I think this is certainly the discussion movie of the year.

And in fact, I have a friend, a very good friend who really didn't like it, and I still don't know why.

And we have a standing date to sit down and talk about what she intensely disliked about Tar.

So I should disclose that I intensely did like it.
