We started at half-seven today because we didn't want to do a particularly long show given

how hot it is in the studio and we know that at eight we're going to get the announcement

of who is next to be kicked out of the tour leadership race, we'll be giving you live

reaction to that.

Ash Sarkar has just finished a pretty heated debate with our producer Fox about whether

not she's allowed to have her fan on, you seem fuming, Ash.

Yeah, because one, you took your job back and you've relegated me to the sweatbox.

Two, your park next to the air conditioning unit, which the viewers at home won't know,

but I know. And three, Fox told me that I'm not allowed to have the fan on. And as you know,

the big fan of France fan on.

Hey, very good. In our defence I'd say this air conditioning unit is not

very effective. And it's not very close to me that I can't spend all evening feeling

sorry for myself. We will be talking about the heat wave. We'll be talking about the

Tory leadership race. So lots to be getting on with this evening.

The third Tory leadership debate has been cancelled after Rishi Sunek and Liz Truss pulled out.

Allies of the two candidates said they believe the previous two debates had been

bad for the Tory brand. That's a plausible analysis given they really were taking chunks out of

each other. Let's look at what happened when Rishi Sunek was asked about his economic record.

My number one economic priority will be tackling inflation and not making it worse.

Because inflation is the enemy that makes everybody poorer. It erodes savings,

reduces living standards and raises mortgage rates. And if we don't get a grip of inflation now,
