The BBC is interrupting its normal programmes to bring you an important announcement.

Buckingham Palace has announced the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In a statement, the Palace said the Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and the Queen consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to

London tomorrow.

BBC Television is broadcasting this special programme reporting the death of Her Majesty

the Queen.

That was the moment the BBC announced the death of the Queen, the Royal Household along

with Britain's media and political establishment have spent decades planning to the last

detail how to manage her passing and the cogs of those plans are now in motion.

I think that it's very rare that you can use the word historic to describe a day and

I think that the last few years, the unprecedented has almost become the quotidian, but this is

truly historic.

The most of us, this will be the only monarch we've ever known, she's reigned for 70 years,

the longest reigning UK monarch and whether you're a Republican like many of us at Novarmedia

or a monarchist, we tend to measure our historical periods in this country by kings and queens.

And I think you would be hard pressed to think of a monarch under whose reign the country

has changed more.
