The moment is here, Boris Johnson will face a vote of no confidence. Well, in fact, he is

facing it right now and we should get the results in at about 9pm. That means we're going

to do an extended show this evening. We're going to be here throughout with live reaction

to the results and to talk you through the twists and turns of the day. I'm joined by Ash

Sarkar Ash. If you've got the gathered crowd for the Queen's birthday party, booing and

whistling and hissing, not a very good sign for a Conservative Prime Minister. It's not a

very good sign for a Conservative Prime Minister and maybe it will be the end of it. Imagine

the platinum Jubilee bringing down Boris Johnson. Tonight will be a special extended

edition of the show. In the second hour, we'll be joined also by Aaron Pastani. There

is still just less than an hour left for Tory MPs to vote in Boris Johnson's confidence

vote. But while we wait for that process to finish, we'll take you through the key

events of the day. It all started with this statement from the chair of the 1922 committee,

Graham Brady.

I'm not making a statement. I've sent out a written statement. I'm really here to answer

any questions you have on the process or procedure. I'll say what was in the written statement

was helpful to you, which is simply to say that the threshold of 15% of the parliamentary

party seeking a vote of confidence in the Prime Minister has been passed. Therefore, a

vote of confidence will take place within the rules of the 1922 committee. That vote

will take place this evening in the House of Commons between 6 and 8 o'clock, and we

will announce the result shortly thereafter.

To prompt that vote of no confidence, Brady had to receive letters from 15% of Tory MPs.
