When did mankind begin to make sacrifices to God? What did they look like?

As we've seen already in this series, the concept of making a sacrifice or putting something aside for the worship of God is nothing new.

And it's nothing that's even exclusively Judeo-Christian.

Man as a whole understands that he has duties to his creator.

It's baked into us.

So today we're going to look back at our ancestors.

That is the practices of the chosen people and how they worshipped God.

In part two of this subject next week, we'll see how it all connects to the mass. But this week, let's take a look at how we worshipped millennia ago.

Father McGilvery, great to have you back again. How are things going since we last talked?

Great, Andrew. Today, of course, is ordinations at the seminary. So as we're speaking,

they've probably just finished priestly ordinations, I imagine, and the bishops moving on to bountiful mass.

So we certainly keep the ordinance in our prayers. It's also the fifth anniversary of my own ordination, so five

years ago exactly was my own. A feast of seeing Aloysius Gonzaga, so certainly a special day.

Congratulations. That's great. It's a beautiful day. Yeah, so yeah, we'll definitely keep them in our

prayers and it is of course fitting that we're recording a liturgy podcast on this day. So this episode, we are going to be talking, we're going to be going to be going backwards a little bit. We're going to be talking about the Old Testament and what worship and liturgy looked like in the Old Testament. So where would you like to start as far as an introduction for this episode, Father?
