I'm Mama Jules, and I'm bringing you an update

to the Penn State Fraternity Hasing scandal.

That's a series of kind of reckless decisions by fraternity organizations that has

resulted in the separate deaths of three young men. Now we've got to go back to

2005 to explain the culture of the Beta Theta Pie fraternity.

The chapter house was run down and to be kind of honest it was out of control. So in 2005 Don Abbey who played for Penn State football back in the late 1960s,

well he stepped in and he made a sizable donation to the beta

Theta Pi chapter.

He had been a part of the fraternity

and he wanted to see the chapter improve and grow.

Now the initial donation to renovate the house was $1.2 million.

But Abby jumped in even further and he contacted other alumni asking for donations, led to him raising another 3.5
