Summary

Two more Memphis police officers were “relieved of duty” and three fire department workers were fired over the deadly beating of Tyre Nichols. Five former Memphis police officers who were involved in the traffic stop have already been charged with murder and kidnapping. Former U.S. Representative Val Demings was the Orlando Police Chief and has more than two decades of law enforcement experience. She tells Anderson Cooper that the evidence is “overwhelming” against the officers who are charged and they should have known that punching and kicking Nichols in the face “could cause death or great bodily harm.”

Plus, CNN National Correspondent Randi Kaye joins AC360 from Walterboro, South Carolina where the double murder trial of Alex Murdaugh continues. The once-prominent attorney is accused of killing his youngest son and wife back in 2021.

0:04.8	Nichols by Memphis police officers. Late today, the city fire department announced the
0:08.8	termination of three personnel, two EMTs and the lieutenant who drove them to the scene.
0:14.0	Also, today, the police department revealed that a six and then a seventh officer had been
0:18.1	quote, relieved of duty. As you know, five have already been fired and charge was second to
0:22.8	be murdered. Their specialized scorpion unit is now disbanded and there could be more charges
0:28.0	and administrative changes to come. We're going to talk about that tonight with a local district
0:31.8	attorney. Also, our legal team on the potential difficulty of getting convictions under Tennessee's
0:36.6	murder statute and our law enforcement experts weigh in on the effect or lack of one, the officer's
0:41.3	body cameras had on their behavior. Including one suspended officer who came onto the scene shortly
