Summary

EP1 - Welcome to my first episode... a timeline of my life until now. But why listen to someone else's past?

It helps you learn more about yourself. I am constantly trying to learn and reflect how my past experiences have shaped me to be the person I am today. There is a reason why we struggle with our mental health and it always goes back to childhood. So before I talk about my experiences with eating disorders and depression to being financially successful at 20, let's dive deep into my past.

Topics I reflect on:

  • Single mum upbringing
  • Relationship with my family
  • Idolising my Dad + people pleasing
  • Why I didn't go to University
  • Body image issues from the age of 6
  • Two homes, two personalties
  • Seeking validation in men as a teenager
  • Why I loved the feeling of losing weight
  • Rejecting my feminine traits
  • The story of losing my Dad at 17

Hey guys, welcome to today's podcast. This is actually my first ever podcast and I've been freaking out for the last 10 minutes because I just don't know how to start it. I don't know how to do it. There's no how to do a podcast. The reason why I kind of wanted to start a podcast is because, you know, I do YouTube, I do Instagram, I used to do a bit of TikTok and I want to go more into detail on certain things I've been

0:22.2

through or experiences I want to share about. And I feel like with YouTube, you know, let's say I do

0:28.3

a vlog of 24 hours. I've got to crop it like a 15, 20 minute video. Sometimes I do half an hour,

0:33.1

but still, there's 24 hours to the day. And I just always feel like I'm editing it to make it engaging to an audience.

0:40.4

So with a podcast, I just want to be able to chat.

0:43.5

I want Anna to come out, chat about everything.

0:46.7

I feel like for the first episode, it's a good idea to start right at the beginning.

0:51.0

Childhood, upbringing, everything along those lines.

0:55.4

And I will be going more into detail on certain things that I've been through in other podcast episodes, but this one's

1:00.4

more of like a general timeline just because I don't think necessarily everyone knows what I've

1:05.2

been through or, yeah, just things that have happened. So, yeah, if we start from Day Dot, I was actually

1:12.4

born in Belgium. That's where my parents were at the time. My mum and dad actually split apart

1:18.5

before I was born. Funny little story. My mom sat down with my dad and said, oh, we've got

1:25.7

something to tell each other. They both had different things to tell each other. And my mom goes, oh, you go first. And my dad goes, I'm leave you. And my mom goes, I'm

1:32.2

pregnant. So right there and then, that's how it started. And then my dad moved away to the Caribbean

1:37.9

and we stayed in Belgium. So the first two years of my life, I was growing up in Belgium, first

1:43.5

words were French. I don't really remember much of it. However, parts of my memories do form because we've been there. Well, we've gone back to Belgium quite a few times. Yeah, I think as I started getting nearer to like two years old, my mum said I started being like, dad, or where's that kind of person in my life? You know,

2:01.7

just saying like, dad, oh, who's that? And so she was like, right, let's go reunite them. So we actually moved to the Caribbean when I was two years old. I've also got a sister. She's three years above me, so she was probably like five at the time. Back with my dad. I was there two till six years old, so four years living in the caravan.

2:18.2

And it was honestly, it was really nice. Yeah, it was definitely a different upbringing maybe.

2:23.2

But it was just nice, you know, when we finished school, like kindergarten, we'd go on the beach, eat watermelon, play in the sea.

2:29.3

Weekends, we'd just be at the beach all day.

2:31.4

In terms of my parents, if I could, let's say, explain my relationship
