And we began with two vastly different takes on the consumer, top financial execs

convening at a Goldman Sachs conference today where American Express CEO Stephen

Squerry warned a more skittish consumer could be to blame

for a slowdown in billings to start the quarter.

Those remarks sending shares of Amex lower by as much as 4% midday.

On the other hand, Bank of America's Brian Moynihan saying he thinks the consumer is in

pretty decent shape.

This is what he told CNBC earlier today.

For the prime American consumer, they're employed earning money, earning more money.
