Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

This is our last night for family vacation.

We have been immersed in the beauty of God's creation, great hiking, fantastic meals, great conversation,

have the rodeo, and there's no better way to cap it off than with the Rosary.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for

especially for the healing and successful surgery September 20th for little

Olivia canelie and all those we've promised to pray for.

Now the Catechism and the Bible in 1st John chapter 3 verse 2

teach us that heaven means primarily to become like God, to be transformed

by grace and the practice of virtue. And God created every person for this

high calling. And the only way you won't reach it is if you don't want to and if you refuse to do your part.

The deadly sin of sloth or a chadia is to have an aversion, yes I said, an actual aversion to this high calling.

St Thomas Aquinas says that sloth is a sorrow or boredom with the spiritual life.

It's being bored with the things of God

which result in a spiritual apathy or complacency.

This is when you don't like spiritual things like prayer or rooting out vice and practicing virtue or talking about God and the ultimate things like heaven,

basically everything that matters most.

And it results in the effort to escape God's invitation

to become like him.
