For this week, we focus on the

strange case of a man named Roy Roberts and a mysterious and haunted forest in

Romania. Carety for scary mysteries, twisted twos.

Number one, Roy Roberts.

If someone commits a horrible crime, then it can be hard to have remorse for them if they are found guilty and sentenced to death.

But the justice system isn't perfect, and occasionally it sends a completely innocent person to meet

their fate. Roy Roberts was a man with a checkered past. When he was younger he became a

prime suspect in a restaurant robbery which landed him in jail.

Later on though, the actual suspect confessed to the crime and said that he worked alone.

But in July of 1983, while Roberts was still serving prison time at the Marberley Correction

Center in Randolph County, Missouri, a prison riot broke out.

The riot was bloody and violent as several inmates got intoxicated on homemade wine.

When a correctional officer named Thomas Jackson attempted to remove several inmates,

he was violently attacked and stabbed to death.

According to four witnesses, Roberts was the person who held down Jackson while two other inmates stabbed him.

Roberts, however, denied the allegations, stating that he never assisted in killing the officer

regardless though as a result of the supposed crime he was sentenced to death

with his execution date nearing and desperate to prove his innocence, Roberts asked to be subjected to a lie detector test in 1999.
