Summary

Have no fear, dear listener: while Jonah is still radio silent as he swan-dives in slow-mo off of waterfalls (or something), The Remnant hasn’t forgotten you. David French returns to guest host this episode with return favorite Ramesh Ponnuru from National Review and AEI. There’s the requisite Kamala Harris talk, but also deeper questions about ideology and the “Burn It Down” debates. Show Notes: -Ramesh’s page at NR -Henry Olsen: Kamala changes nothing -Kevin Williamson summarizes the “Burn It Down” debates -The inside baseball of Trump’s teleprompter troubles -Ramesh on why the Republicans need to keep working-class voters -“Always twirling towards freedom”

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention?

0:18.0

You're not touch that iPhone. This is in fact the remnant podcast, but this is not Jonah Goldberg.

0:36.0

This is David French filling in for the second time for Jonah who is in an undisclosed location far, far from internet.

0:44.0

But I've got a treat for you. You don't have Jonah today, but you do have my former Nashore View colleague esteemed brilliant mind in the conservative movement.

One Mr. Ramesh Panuru, Ramesh. I can say welcome back to the remnant. I've never hosted you before, but you've been on the remnant before as I recall.

1:07.0

So which how many times is this on the remnant for you?

1:16.0

2:00.0

I'm going to ask you to react to a tweet from Henry Olson.

2:06.0

And this this tweet is actually contrary to a lot of the right side of my Twitter feed, which is basically said that Kamala Harris, the selection of Kamala Harris makes Biden more likely to lose.

2:17.0

But here's what Henry Olson says and he wrote it in the Washington post.

2:21.0

And this tweet had been asked to cast a safe plausible VP nominee for the modern Democratic party.

2:29.0

It would have cast Kamala Harris. This selection changes nothing about the race whatsoever.

2:36.0

Agree or disagree?

2:39.0

I agree. I think that look, well, to take a step back, I think that Biden made a mistake by announcing early on that he was going to pick a woman.

2:50.0

And that that narrowed his options quite a lot, particularly since it ended up meaning that he had to pick a non white woman.
