Do you like progress, technology, advancements and things?

Sure you do.

I do.

Think about for a moment how much easier your life is today than the guy who even lived 50 years ago, right?

If I wanted to right now, if I wanted to right here on camera, I could pick up my phone and order groceries and some guy would come deliver them right here to the studio.

It's astounding, right?

It's astounding.

I get in my car to drive home, not only am I able to talk to other people on the telephone, but it actually hooks up to the speaker system in my car.

And I just have a conversation as if they're sitting right there with me.

We take these things for granted, but this is normal now.

Technology advancements are awesome, right?

Mostly.

There's a dark side to them though.

Because as the phones get better, the cars get better, and the groceries get delivered, weapons technology advances too.

And this is probably going to get a little dark at times, but I do think it's important we understand the stakes.

You see if Nation A gets mad at Nation B in the year 1500, okay?

People are going to die, get stabbed, probably some horse charges in there, sweet swords and stuff like that.

They'll work it out in the end. We're certainly not going to see Nation destroyed. Armies will die, maybe some civilians will starve, and not the end of the world.

That's the way war was for a long time.

And then weapons technology begin to advance, and advance, and then we got to something like World War One, and the world had never seen numbers like this.

Now most people don't know much about World War One, but remember, prior to that it was all horses.

That's really how wars were fought. A lot of horseback.
