Summary

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

BONUS! Pip’s media cup was overflowing with 2020 goodness, so he went ahead and made a bonus episode to catch all the gems that 2020’s television had to offer and HERE IT IS!

As with the films of the year episode, this is all Pip’s opinion and you may indeed share differing ones, but this might alert you to some good times that you might not have been aware of before. You’ll enjoy this for sure!

QUICK NOTE! This is producer Buddy Peace here typing this, and just to let you know I do drop by super quick by invitation from Pip, to make a quick announcement and wish y’all the best for 2021. I don’t take liberties with installing myself on the podcast so I thought I’d just gently warn you of the alternate voice you will hear chiming in.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, as promised on the Films of the Year podcast, I'm going to quickly run through my TV shows of the year.

0:07.2

If you've not listened to the films of the year episode yet, go and listen to that, that's the main one.

0:12.3

I'm literally going to dart through these really quickly. So that's the main one, go back and listen to that.

0:17.6

But yeah, let's drop the theme tune, buddy, peace, and get into my TV shows of the year.

0:24.8

Because again, the reason I've done this is it was a year for TV, man, we lost our cinemas and we lost a lot of films,

0:32.1

and we gained a lot of time at home. See ya, let's drop that theme.

0:56.5

Right, as I said, this is going to be a mini episode and I'm really conscious. I'm worried I'm going to go through too fast,

1:02.8

but also I know that I ran along. So I think if I take my time at all, we could be in trouble.

1:09.8

These aren't in any order, the same with the films of the year, they aren't in any order, but I would say the first three,

1:17.2

no, there's three, four, no, there's loads, they're really good. But the first two then are my actual TV shows of the year.

1:27.2

And the first one, probably my show of the year is Babylon Berlin. My god, it's amazing. I'm running out of battery, actually.

1:37.6

So this is my end. It's a German show where I've been in North America. It's on Netflix out here.

1:47.6

In the UK I believe it's on Sky Box, it's off Sky Atlantic or something, maybe on now TV.

1:53.5

But it's amazing. It's one of the best bits of, it's taken from books, some like,

1:59.3

award like legendary books, but it's all set in between the two world wars and it's set in a

2:08.2

police department essentially. And the two lead characters are two of the best characters I've

2:17.7

ever seen their performances. The writing is amazing, the twist and turns, the nods to classics,

2:24.8

cinema that are throughout or amazing, the nods to obviously points and history. It's really good.

2:33.3

It's, yeah, I just can't recommend enough. There's not that much to tell you. It makes me think of

2:39.9

the wire in that you're like, it's just about the kind of police and the criminals. But it's really

2:45.8

good. I can't tell you much more than that, but it's, it's amazing. Yeah, I recommend it highly.

2:52.4

The other one that I would say I said on my top two is I may destroy you. Wow.
