Panic continues to swirl over the emergence of a so-called Omicron variant with government

imposing new COVID surveillance measures and Fauciites calling for a return to the good

old days of indoor mask mandates.

Oh, ma, is this just a temporary overreaction or could we be headed for another COVID winter?

Let's blow that question and tonight's Hold the Line.

Well, from the Hold the Line, I'm Buck Sexton.

We don't know.

Still, if Omicron is a more dangerous and more transmissible variant, we just know that

scientists have told us there are many mutations on the actual virus that are concerning.

So what should we do?

Well, there's of course the possibility we could just wait to see.

There have been other variants that were no more concerning or transmissible.

And then there was Delta, which they said was considerably more transmissible.

So should we just sit around and wait for the facts to come in before making major

sweeping policy decisions?

Well, Rochelle Wollensky-Rather, CDC director says that they're going to actually

start looking for stuff right away all over the place because they're freaked out about

it.

As we have done throughout the pandemic, CDC is evaluating how to make international

travel as safe as possible, including pre-departure testing closer to the time of flight and considerations

around additional post-arrival testing and self-quarantine.
