1 Thessalonians chapter 1, verses 9 and 10,

for they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you

and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God

and to wait for his son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead,

Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

As you read through First Thessalonians, you will notice, at the end of every chapter,

there is a reference to Jesus' return.

This letter from Paul to the Church of the Thessalonians is saturated with

anticipation of Jesus coming. And I love the way this first chapter depicts this. It's

talking about how the people at Thessalonica had turned to God from idols. They were

worshipping all these different idols and they turned to God from idols. They were worshipping all these different idols,

and they turned to God to serve the living and true God

and to wait for his son from heaven.

So follow the way this is even phrased.

They turned to God from idols to wait for his son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus

who delivers us from the wrath to come.

So when we turn from the idols of this world, the things of this world that vie for our

attention and affection and devotion, we're turning to, yes, the one true God to serve and live in him and to wait

for his son from heaven. So let me ask you a question. Would that phrase describe the posture of

your life on a daily basis? Are you living with a sense of waiting and

anticipation today for Jesus to return from heaven? Are you living with that sense of it could be
