Terrier Pitt, written and read by 13 year old Donna Perry. Toria Pitt was a 24-year-old mining engineer when she entered a 100-kilometer

ultramarathon. That's double the length of a regular marathon.

Only the fittest of the fit would dare to run that far.

But running was the least of Tria's worries that day.

A quarter of the way through the course in a remote

Kimberly region of Western Australia, Tria heard a rumbling. At first she

thought it was just the sound from the highway and then

Theresa saw it. It was a terrifying sight a wall of flames. She tried to

sprint out of the fire's path, but it was too late.

She was caught in the flames.

This is it, she thought to herself.

This is the end.

The fire passed while Terria cowered on a hillside, badly burnt.

She stayed there, stranded for four whole hours, waiting for help.

Finally, paramedics arrived and Terria immediately recognized one of them.

Bonnie, Terria called out,

It's me, Terria! out, it's me, Terria.

But Bonnie didn't recognize her.

Bonnie started to cry.

That was the moment that Terria sensed how terrible her injuries must have been.
