The gun part was discovered in an evidence locker in Clark County Illinois after Detective Derek Moy sent out a flyer email

to law enforcement agencies all over the country and finally got a hit on September 12th of 2014.

It turns out the gun part had been discovered by a truck driver

who had pulled over to rest on a heavily trafficked shoulder of an interstate in Illinois

on the Indiana border. Nearly a year earlier on August 2nd of 2013,

some three weeks after Garcia had been arrested in downstate Illinois.

Interestingly, at around the same time that we were provided the report regarding this gun

A year ago, the driver taking a break

spotted a gun off the road of an exit ramp off US 40 and

Interstate 70 in Illinois.

Omaha police now believe it was the gun used to kill Dr Roger and Mary Brumbek of Omaha, the World Herald has learned.

Oh, really? The gun sat in an Illinois sheriff's office until Omaha police tracked it down last month. It apparently had been dismantled

before it was dumped in a roadside ditch. Typically a black and silver model.

The discovered gun only had the black-based frame handle and trigger.

The top portion including the slide and apparently the barrel is gone.

The gun was found around 16 miles from where Anthony Garcia used to live in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Asked about the discovery, Douglas County Attorney Don Klein declined to provide details.
