Coming out of law school, in general, you are armed with little or no idea on how to

actually practice law.

See, law schools designed to position its students to pass the bar exam, which a majority

of states require in order for one to become a licensed attorney.

Licensing is a state-by-state proposition.

You must pass the bar or the equivalent in each and every state that you would like to

practice in.

Now, the time frame that I'm referring to here is directly out of law school.

Because there are states that have reciprocity, which means if you've practiced for a certain

amount of years, that you don't have to take the bar exam, you just have to pass their

character and fitness, and they'll allow you to practice in that state, what we're talking

about is fresh out of law school.

And more specifically, what we're talking about is to be able to practice in state court.

Because in federal court, you do not need to be licensed in every individual state because

well, it's federal.

In order to get into the federal bar, you only must apply, and if you meet the federal

court's qualifications, you will be approved to practice in that federal district.

So in law school, aside from summer internships and various legal clinics offered by the

school, you, as a student, get little to no practical experience on how to actually

practice law.

Which is why a majority of graduating law students do the smart thing, and they get

a job with a private firm or get a job as a prosecutor or a public defender in order
