Summary

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping what was another impressive performance in the Coliseum, a 38-17 victory over Northwestern on Friday night. The Trojans and Wildcats were close in the first half, but an amazing defensive play by Jayden Maiava gave USC new life and sparked a 14-point swing. In the second half the Trojan defense took over, allowing only a lone field goal after the break. The crew gives their thoughts on the Trojan offense getting things rolling again, with Jayden Maiava back to his old form, King Miller rushing for over 100-yards in his first Coliseum start and Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane both bringing their 'A' games. On the defensive side, it was a rough start after Northwestern scored touchdowns on its first two drives, but after that the USC defense was able to tighten up and keep the Wildcats out of the end zone, only allowing 3 points the rest of the way. They also discuss where the 7-2 (5-1) Trojans are in the Big Ten standings, with a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoffs if they can win out. The road gets tougher over the next couple of weeks, with a tough Iowa squad coming to the Coliseum followed by a difficult road trip to Eugene to take on the No. 9 Oregon Ducks. I'm really excited about it. I think I've done one tunnel vision with you before, but it's been a while. Have we? I don't know. I feel like... I personally think this is the first time I've ever done any sort of instant or tunnel vision with Riley. That's my memory. I know you've been here while I've done some, but you haven't hosted. So I think this is the first one. That might be it then. So we got Connor Morissette covering the USC men's basketball team. So Chris is pinch hitting, doing an hour early 6 p.m. I don't know. We kind of bounce around 6 or 7. But yeah, Riley, we're ready. We're ready to talk some USC football.

Today we're breaking down USC's Friday night win against Northwestern in the Coliseum 3817. Trojans go up, 7251 in conference. Let's get into it, guys. Yeah, it's pretty significant. When you looked at the 5 and 1 in conference, I was like, well, that's pretty impressive. Like last year, what was it, four and five or something? Yeah. Can't get any wins on the road. And, you know, significant jump. And I think, you know, Lincoln Riley, sometimes it's coach speak. We're talking about there's, you know, every, all our goals are still in front of us. And it's true because USC has three games to win. And if they do that, they will be in the college football playoff for the very first time. And, you know, Iowa, you know, just lost the game. And, you know, who knows what the Hawkeyes are going to be? That's a tough team and you're going to have to play well. But it's at home and USC's played so much better at home. Obviously, the road game at Oregon is going to be important.

2:39.2

But, you know, Oregon doesn't look like world beaters, though.

2:42.3

I think they'll be up for the USC game.

2:44.8

And then UCLA had a little spurt in the middle,

2:47.3

and now they're kind of come back down to Earth.

2:54.9

They made a run at Nebraska, but USA took Nebraska on the road. But the whole quarterback situation looked a little bit better than what we saw when we were in Lincoln. But yeah,

2:59.1

three games left, which is crazy, but you win them all and you're going to the playoffs.
