One of the youngest candidates in the Democratic field at 37 years old, Hawaii

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has been winning elections since she was 21 when she was first elected

to the Hawaii State Assembly, serving just a single term after enlisting in the National Guard

and deploying in 2004 to Iraq. The experience completely changed my life and was a very big motivator in recognizing what are the true cost of war, seeing that on a daily basis, and bringing that experience here to Congress.

After returning from another deployment, Gabbard was elected to Honolulu City Council, and

in 2012 won an open U.S. House seat in Hawaii, frequently outspoken on what she viewed
