Hey friend, I don't know what burden you're carrying. I don't know what's wearing you down today,

but I do know a great answer to your trouble. In fact, it's the words of Jesus who said,

come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you

and learn for me, for I am gentle and lonely in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke upon you and learn for me, for I am gentle and lonely in heart, and you

will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11, 28 through 30.

For many years, I never understood what Jesus meant when he said, take my yoke upon you. It made me think

like, Jesus, do you want to give me something else to deal with? My burdens are already so heavy enough.

I don't need another problem on me.

And then I learned that a yoke is a board that has two arches,

and it's placed over two cattle so that they can pull a cart.

The value of a yoke is that it cuts the load in half.

Without a yoke, one cow has to pull the entire load by themselves. But if you yoke up with

another cow, that is two animals pulling the load together, making it half as heavy. So when Jesus

tells you to take on his yoke, he's not saying, hey, I'm going to give you more problems.

Jesus doesn't even have any problems. He's saying he's going to be here to share your problems.

He's going to share your load. He's going to take stress on himself and bear it with you.

What a God that we have. Jesus uses three notable verbs in the scripture that we just read out of

Matthew 11. Come, learn, and take. It's like Jesus said, come team up with me so that you can learn how I do it.

Take on a lighter load and reduce your stress and make your problems easier to navigate.

When we are yoked to Christ, we move together with him.

We move in the same direction at the same speed, and we move in the right direction at the right

speed, and you move with a lighter burden.
