John 14: 27-31 - 'A peace the world cannot give is my gift to you.'

Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraphs:

- 1851 (in 'The Definition of Sin') - It is precisely in the Passion, when the mercy of Christ is about to vanquish it, that sin most clearly manifests its violence and its many forms: unbelief, murderous hatred, shunning and mockery by the leaders and the people, Pilate's cowardice and the cruelty of the soldiers, Judas' betrayal - so bitter to Jesus, Peter's denial and the disciples' flight. However, at the very hour of darkness, the hour of the prince of this world, the sacrifice of Christ secretly becomes the source from which the forgiveness of our sins will pour forth inexhaustibly.

- 2853 (in 'But Deliver us from Evil') - Victory over the "prince of this world" was won once for all at the Hour when Jesus freely gave himself up to death to give us his life. This is the judgment of this world, and the prince of this world is "cast out" (abbreviated).

- 606 (in 'Christ's whole life is an offering to the Father') - The Son of God, who came down "from heaven, not to do (his) own will, but the will of him who sent (him)", said on coming into the world, "Lo, I have come to do your will, O God." "and by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." From the first moment of his Incarnation the Son embraces the Father's plan of divine salvation in his redemptive mission: "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work." The sacrifice of Jesus "for the sins of the whole world" expresses his loving communion with the Father. "The Father loves me, because I lay down my life", said the Lord, "(for) I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father."

Hi everyone. Welcome back to Daily Gospel Exegesis podcast, which is produced by logical Bible study.

0:20.8

And as a ministry, we're all about diving into the

0:23.5

literal sense of the text. So helping Catholics really understand their Bible, what was the

0:28.5

original author, trying to get across to their original audience. And that's where we always

0:33.7

want to start as Catholics. That is the teaching of the church. And that's what we're all

0:38.3

about. I want to encourage each of you who have been listening for a while and are really enjoying

0:43.4

this podcast and are getting a lot out of it. And I know from the feedback that we've been receiving

0:49.2

that so many of you are benefiting from this ministry. Can I please encourage you to consider becoming

0:54.7

a supporter of the ministry? This ministry is not associated with a parish or a diocese, so there is

1:00.5

no income. We have to just fund it all ourselves based on the generosity of you guys as givers.

1:08.2

So if you believe this podcast is worth investing in and you want more and more people

1:14.1

to hear it, then please consider becoming a monthly donor. There's so many benefits available for you.

1:19.7

If you do that through the Patreon website, there's benefits additional bonus episodes that are

1:24.6

released to you every month if you become a supporter of the

1:27.8

ministry. And we spend a bit of time preparing these podcasts. You get to hear a new episode

1:34.0

every day. So that's 30 new episodes a month. Each of them is around 20 minutes long. So by the

1:40.0

end of the month, you've heard 10 hours worth of podcasts. And for me, that's equivalent to

1:45.3

about 20 to 30 hours of preparation every month of producing hopefully really good quality

1:52.0

exegesis of the text. And so if you believe that's worth rewarding and you want to see this

1:57.5

ministry grow, please consider becoming a supporter of the ministry.

2:02.2

And the link for that is in the show notes. I would be very grateful.
