Hi everyone. Welcome back to the daily gospel exegesis podcast where we look at the gospel

0:16.0

reading for today's Catholic Mass and we attempt to do a verse-by-verse exegesis of the text,

0:22.0

so really getting into it, trying to work out what the original author was trying to get at.

0:27.1

Today's text in particular is a bit of a difficult one, and I think you'll see the value

0:31.4

in doing a verse-by-verse exegesis on a text like this, otherwise it could lead to misinterpreting the text. So if you enjoy what

0:40.1

you hear in today's podcast and you think it's worthwhile, please consider becoming a supporter of the

0:44.7

ministry. We cannot do it without your support. It's entirely listener funded. And if you do become a

0:51.1

Patreon supporter, and the link for that is in the show notes,

0:59.8

then you get access to exclusive bonus episodes, where we do an exegesis just like this,

1:03.5

1:16.9

through the Patreon page. And I'd be very grateful if you did consider supporting the work

1:22.1

that we're doing, preparing and distributing these podcasts every single day. So today's text is

1:27.4

Luke chapter 14 versus 15 to 24.

1:32.4

One of those gathered round the table said to Jesus,

1:36.5

happy the man who will be at the feast in the kingdom of God.

1:40.8

But he said to him,

1:42.5

there was a man who gave a great banquet, and he invited a large number of people.

1:48.0

When the time for the banquet came, he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited,

1:54.0

Come along, everything is ready now.

1:57.0

But all alike started to make excuses.
